Cure for gout

I take 2 medications for my gout but I wouldn't say that they are a cure for gout. The one is colgout which is used to treat the symptoms of gout. I originally thought that it reduced the level of uric acid in my blood but after doing some research I found out that it just stops the crytsalization in the joints and thus prevents the gout. This probably explains why I could feel a gout attack coming on every week as my uric acid levels were still high. The bad thing about colgout is that it gives me stomach cramps and diahorea. So much for a cure!

The other medication I took was Zyloprim. I say took because I have stopped using it because I don't think that it works for me. Even though I took a tablet every single day I would still get gout attacks. Although, Zyloprim is not a cure for gout, it works for most people because it prevents the production of uric acid. I spoke to the doctor about it and he just suggested continuing with the medication. I even tried a generic brand called progout but it had the same effect on my gout, and that is none.

So as you can see I have tried some medications for my gout but none are a cure for gout.
